Outdoor Dry Fast Foam

If you like spending time outdoors, you can enhance your outdoor space by adding cushions. There are various options available for cushions and one is dry fast foam. This foam is an open-cell foam and is porous.

Even when the foam gets wet it dries out quickly because its large and open pores allow the water to drain through it. It can dry immediately after exposure to sprays, rain, melting snow, morning dew, washing and cleaning or other forms of moisture. The pores allow air circulation which helps to dry the foam even if it gets saturated.

It is porous and yet offers comfort when used in cushions or seating. Dry fast foam is used in commercial applications like boat cushions, poolside cushions, yacht mattresses and more. It can also be used for outdoor cushions, outdoor mattresses, chair cushions, outdoor ottoman and more.

The cushions made using dry fast foam provide support and comfort and you need not worry about them being exposed to the weather. The foam can also be treated with fungicidal agents to inhibit fungus growth and mildew. Outdoor Dry Fast Foam can be used to make custom cushions of desired shapes.

Types of dry fast foam

The different types of dry fast foam are Firm grade and Soft grade. The foams are available in different thicknesses and you can choose a thickness depending on the cushioning required for your application. The foams are perfect for wet environments.

The 'Firm' grade has high density and is ideal for heavy wear and tear where more durability is required. It has superior drying time and is highly suitable for outdoor use. It can return to its original shape after it dries up once it gets wet.

The 'Soft' grade foam has a superior cell structure and offers a soft and plush feel. It is ideal for use in comfort-designed furniture. It has high porosity and gets dried quickly therefore is used in outdoor applications. The cushions remain comfortable for a longer time.

How to select a foam for outdoor applications?

Dry fast foam can be used in marine applications, outdoor cushions, or bedding solutions. The quality of foam depends on factors like density, resilience, indentation force deflection (IFD) and biocide.

Foam comes in a range of densities and this has to be considered while buying a foam. The higher the density of foam the firmer the foam will be. For your outdoor furniture you should use foams with lesser density.

Resilience is how fast the foam comes back to the original shape after pressure has been applied. For outdoor furniture you will need a foam with low resilience as it is exposed to moisture and environment.

The IFD measures the foam softness and a lower value indicates less firmness and a higher value indicates greater firmness. A biocide treatment can be used with dry fast foam to inhibit the growth of fungus, mold and mildew. Areas prone to moisture can cause the growth of microorganisms therefore a biocide treatment is a must.
